There is a produt just for cleaning ceramic hobs but im flip flopped if i can remember what it is called.

We just used flash or similar own brand stuff, half the price and just as good.

Any orange kitchen spray works brilliantly if you use it every time you use the hob.

Funny you should ask......

I had a tenant move out a couple of weeks back and the ceramic hob looked liked a disastaer zone...dirty b*ggers.

My missus bought me a pot of that Cillit Bang...I can honestly say the stuff is AMAZING!...It will shift anything, but wear gloves, my fingernails are still peeling two weeks later!

...and buy one of those foam backed green scrubber thingys to work it in.

DONT use anything abrasive on it.

You must mean Hob brite! It's in an orange plastic bottle, and Somerfield sell it. I've had one bottle for over a year and there's still a bit left. Cleans the hob like new!

Interesting to read the comments about Cillit - everyone hates the stuff on HCIYH forum!

I use Astonish too. But I've been wavering on whether to try Cillit Bang - why do they hate it SAH - because it doesn't work, or because is it horribly caustic, or something else?

I haven't heard a good word said about Cillit Bang before this thread. I bought a bottle of the spray but only used it once. Ditto my sister (we should have compared notes!) And it smells disgusting.

Yes Hobrite is very good. It's cheap and lasts for ages. I'd also recommend you buy a ceramic hob scraper for any spillages. I bought a scraper from the internet (just did a google search) and it cost £7. Well worth it to keep your hob looking new.

Hob Brite is good stuff - wouldn't recommend one of those scrapers though. I bought one for £8, when I opened the packet it turned out to be a stanley knife blade in a vertical holder. Why bother when you can just use a blade?

Hob brite really does work. Hv tried Cillit bang, Astonish and other stuff on the hob and none work as well as Hob brite.

You are never alone with a spilt personality - Spike Milligna (the late, great typographical error).

I've got an induction hob, so never get "burnt on" spillage.

I've been using Easy Do for more than 20 years. It's brilliant, leaves a lovely sheen on the hob and a silicone finish that makes it easier to clean next time, unlike Hob Brite which I tried and didn't like because although it cleaned the hob OK it didn't leave a polished finish. Easy Do is obtainable from John Lewis and Comet. I use it every day if the hob's been in use. After using it I finish off with a microfibre duster which is fantastic for taking off any smears.

I also find stainless steel cleaner (acid based) is quite satisfactory as a hob cleaner, but again it doesn't leave a polished finish. I use it occasionally if I run out of Easy Do. The stainless steel cleaners say on the bottle they are suitable for ceramic hob.

Never ever use a cream cleaner.
