I bought a dining table from Ikea in 2000. It's rubberwood and frosted glass - nothing special in many ways, but we really like it and it goes well with all our other stuff.
We have a rectangular one (like the one on ebay Item number: 350026374469) but they also made a square one. We have recently extended our house, and would like one of these smaller square ones for our new dining area, but I can't remember what the style was called in order to search for it properly. I think it was a current line for about 12-18 months after I bought mine, but was then discontinued, so I would be relying on finding one second hand...
Aside from ebay and gumtree (harder to search, I find) does anyone have any bright ideas about how I could go about this? Or does anyone remember the name of the model?
Dont know whether what you describe is the sort of thing which would hold its value well, but some people chuck out quite decent finished with furniture on Freecycle. You could try putting a wanted at your local group site. Long shot but it wouldnt cost you anything to try and you never know.
I suppose it's obvious but you could try contacting IKEA and asking them the model name... then it would be easier to track down. Also try putting a "want it now" thing on eBay.
Thanks for asking your b-i-l Bob - that's much appreciated!
We're actually talking to a local furniture maker who reckons he can make one for us to match. It'll be more expensive, although not as bad as I'd thought , but at least we get exactly what we wanted.
