We've been quoted £6,000 unfitted, with Bosch appliances, by MFI for a small kitchen which sounds expensive? Am tempted to go with it as it will be one stop shopping but does anyone have any other suppliers in London that they can suggest for a modern look at a more affordable price? Any tips appreciated, many thanks.

That does seem pricey for a small kitchen and the fitting will add considerably to that (plus tiling, flooring etc.) If that is the only quote you've had then you should not stop there. If you are after a budget kitchen then try the DIY places like B&Q, Homebase and Wickes but if you can push the boat out a bit then Magnet can be reasonable value if you wait for one of their half price sales. Another option could be a local joiner/cabinet maker if you are looking for wooden units as a locally made bespoke kitchen can be a lot cheaper than you'd think.

Howdens, is the place apparently, they sell MFI kitchens but cheaper, i've been led to believe by my builder, who said if/when we replace our kitchen look through the Howdens brochure. Im pretty sure it sells only to trade though.

As susiecam says, if its your only quote, look around, our neighbour has just had a b and q one fitted and loves it.

Good luck

It sounds pricy for a "budget" kitchen.

Ikea's another option in London of course. I got mine for 5k including fitting, installing my tiles and flooring, removal of old one and standard kitchen appliances (not Bosch though Wink). The overall service was excellent as well.

This might sound insane, but have you tried Ebay? There are some truly weird people out there selling extremely posh kitchens on Ebay at comparatively knock-down prices. A lot of them are in London, so it might be practical for you?

I had quotes from MFI and thought the same thing - expensive and I didn't like the way they refuse to quote for full fitting so you never know where you are. I went to B&Q in the end and was very happy. I got the exact same kitchen as I saw in MFI, supplied and fitted for 6.5K. (am in West London BTW)
