Hi,

We are laying underfloor electric heating, and have been told we need to lay flexible tile adhesive.
We are unsure if it's best to tile straight over the underfloor heating or lay a screed over it first (the company supplying the heating has told us it does not matter if we do/don't screed it before tiling).

Does anyone have any advice about what is best to do, and if we should also lay flexible screed as well as flexible tile adhesive or if a normal screed would be fine.

I hope I've made sense, thanks!

Just remember that if you lay a screed, you will have to let it cure for at least three weeks before laying tiles. And PLEASE don't listen to the people who tell you otherwise - you'll end up with tiles lifting several months down the line.

Thought I'd better just qualify that. Peeps are often under the illusion they can lay tiles on "dry" screed, so they try to dry out quickly. In fact there is a chemical reaction going on, and that is what needs to cure to ensure the adhesive bonds properly. I've seen too many
( impatient ) , and then disappointed people who couldn't wait. Like everything else, if you build a job properly, you take time to do it right and it will then last. If you do as they do in these TV makeover progs, and finish everything in a day or whatever, you'll be doing it all again before they do the next series.
