Has anyone had any experience with it?

It is possible to use coloured dye in cement rendering but it is not popular as the prefered method is to finish of with masonary paint to provide protection against frost and rain penetration to cement base rendering.

Thanks for your reply, it enabled me to make my decision.

Be aware that any colour will fade over time, some colours more than others.
