A friend of mine is interested in making an offer on a detatched house which currently has a flat roof and was wondering if anyone on here has a rough idea what it would cost to have a flat roof fully pitched? The houses on either side of this house have pitched roofs so she doesn't think planning permission would be a problem, but she needs to know what the costs are likely to be before considering what offer to make as she would only want to buy this house if she could afford to get the roof pitched.
It's not a forgone conclusion that PP will be forthcoming. Is is a genuine Deco style? Have other Deco houses in the area been so converted? I'd talk to the planners to see how they react.
Lee, it was Art Deco once but all the original features have been ripped out (windows internal fittings etc) so the only Art Deco aspect remaining is the flat roof. The houses either side are of the same period but they have pitched roofs so PP must have been forthcoming... but I will tell my frind to give the PP people a call just to check it out.
