I'm interested in a property that has a 'sectional garage' which is in a poor state of repair. The property hasn't yet gone to survey (we have offered, the vendors have accepted).
I'm wondering if the garage could be asbestos. It is made of white panels with a corrugated roof (not metal).
If it turns out to be asbestos, should we just leave the garage alone, or demolish it? I think we will need to call in a specialist company to demolish and dispose.
If we demolish it, are we talking £1000's to get it disposed of? Anyone with any experience or advice, please? Thanks DD
Well, I wouldn't do it yourself, but I don't think it's a big deal if you get the experts in. My friend had the same problem with her garage and she phoned the council and they came and did it.
When I was a child we had a house with asbestos drain pipes and an asbestos garage. Isn't it only a problem if you cut it????
Depends on its age, if it's quite late it's probably not asbestos anyway. But as long as you don't set to with a drill or saw on it it really doesn't matter.
