I've often wondered how the people who bought the houses renovated on PL (in the days when they used to sell, that is ) feel about them once theyve seen the warts-and-all process on TV?
One thing you can say about the couple on the programme on the 26th is that they got professionals to do they work. I've cringed as I've seen amateurs doing electrics or plumbing (remember the guy in Brighton!) and I wonder what buyers think?
What about once they'v seen the decision-making process? For example last week's house in South Wales very nearly could have had a topfloor shower room instead of one of those bathrooms off the kitchen (still chuckling over that one). Or if they'v seen the glorious Art Deco house in Poole before that woman imposed her hideous decorating on it.
So would anyone buy a property ou'd seen renovated by amateurs on TV? Or has anybody and is willing to confess it?!
I think that I'd be more concerned when I saw how much the house had been valued at... they always seem to put the property on the market for more than it's worth.
Imagine if you bought the house last night for the current asking proce of £210k... then saw the programme, and saw that the average valuation was £193k, and that the lowest was £180k!!
With the current series of PL following people who, as a rule, don't have a clue - I think that I'd be a little put off if the house was advertised as having appeared on PL.. Either because of the shoddy work, or the over-inflated price..

Agree Beccie, the ‘developers’ often seem to let the program adversely affect the post-programme marketing – for example the Art Deco house in Poole was advertised only locally, with the pictures withheld, as sort of half-hearted attempt to hide, but then it is practically invisible to any prospective buyers. Others wear the PL ‘tag’ proudly, a bit like a kite mark for good quality and value, but regular viewers know that the PL ‘tag’ can sometimes mean just the opposite, especially if the EA valuations and asking price are hugely divergent.

Sorry to correct you Becci, although further emphasing your point, the asking price last night was 219k!!! Completely Extortionate IMHO!
A good point actually that has been raised here. It would be interesting to hear from someone who has bought one of these properties. Any kind of Feedback. Incidently, Jon and I are gutting my Daughters New house at the moment and putting in new suites in Bathroom and En-Suite etc. Whirlpool Bath, fantastic piece of kit not tooooo expensive to buy (Trade). Let you know how we get on. Yes! I know I have "Knocked off" early but I am adhering to the new Health and Safety European Directive which states that no Hard Working Family Member (me!) is permItted to work for more than 5 hours a day and my age has nothing to do with it OK!
I too would love to hear what the buyers think. When they first started doing "Property Ladder Revisited" I vainly hoped that it would involve going back to interview the people who now lived in the house, but sadly not. You're missing a trick, Channel 4!
