There is a road sign on the A428 in Cambridgeshire that is "cum wendy". Always makes me snigger, and I am supposedly a responsible adult!!

Every sign for Canal Street, which forms the heart of the gay area in Central Manchester, innevitably has the "C" obliterated.

Not quite what you were asking, but there is a very, very expensive private road in Chislehurst (the sort that EAs describe as "premier") that has had a sign changed from "Beware of Ramps" to "Beware of TRamps".

If your travelling out of Deal in Kent before lunch, make sure you avoid the cross-road thats marked "Ham" left and "Sandwich" right.

Picking up on the amusing signposts rather than place names, sorry ...

The signpost to Shilbottle in Northumberland regularly used to have the l changed to a t.

And I spent a whole holiday in Wales sniggering at the Welsh road sign for hidden dip, which my husband soon failed to find amusing. It's Pant Cud. (Oh how sad, I'm actually giggling typing it.)

In Edinburgh we have 'The Inch' and 'Burdiehouse' which I always found to be quite odd place names!

Having lived near Shilbottle prior to moving here - I thought the correct spelling was with the 't'.

If we're not restricted to UK place names, how about a nice safe Coolstay in the village of CONDOM in Gascony.
