have just moved into new house and the waste pipe under sink is leaking-its a very complicated contraption with 2 pipes coming from main sink bowl and half bowl, and the waste pipe from washing machine going into the side. its one of the new types with plastic fittings and orange teethy type things in the joins.
Its the join from the half bowl sink thats leaking whenever the sink is emptied(only with large amts water-not if tap runs into sink it seems ok-overflows when empties-comes back up from the waste pipe.
This pipe seems a little short but obviously old owners had no problems with it. It did come apart when plumbed in washing machine(poss a little brutal when trying to work in such a SMALL space) but even when we think have got it together it is still leaking.
so... any ideas? was going to try plumbers tape but dont reallywant to break my new house! Do i need to pay loads of money to get a plumber out?
Yep, you want Melboy... but until our resident Star appeaps to deispense his sage advice, you might want to try taping up the leak. a bit of tape is not going to break anything, after all.
Also, when you took the thing apart, did you check that the washers were all still there? A missing washer can leave a hole for water to come out.
