We are in the middle of renovating a 1907 bay windowed terrace property and are having real trouble trying to find a light fitting for the livingroom.

They are either far too contemorary or far too dated... does anyone have any ideas or suggestions ? The livingroom is fairly traditional, but in a tasteful way.. ie stripped floors, neutral walls, period fireplace.

In my house... which sounds similar to your, I have a quite large crystal chandalier. It looks like a waterfall with the crystals suspended off a more white metal than chrome arm kinda things. Looks lovely and tho they're actually quite big you don't really notice them (I have a thru lounge so have 2) cept of a nigth time when I have them on a dimmer and they cast lovely light around the room.... (NO MY NEW BUYERS ARE NOT GETTING THEIR HANDS ON THEM !!!!!)

Are you near a John Lewis? We just bought a lot of light fittings from them for our Victorian house which sounds similarly done-out to yours.

If you are in Scotland (from the sound of that user name!) try Cotterell Light Centre in Glasgow and also Litecraft in Glasgow, they both have websites so you could check them first but they both have huge choices and we bought all our light fittings from them for our whole house. Not always cheap but worth it! They have modern and traditional.
