Hello Please can you help me. I am planning to relocate to london as I hope to get a job there as an occupational health nurse. I would like to know where you think might be good to buy/ enjoyable to live in london. I am 42 and would like to buy a property that would also be easy to rent later. I realise work may stipulate where I have to live, but I waS wondering where is attractive in my budget range. I am planning to purchase at around £250,000 to £300,000and would consider flats and houses. Thanks very much for your thoughts Spark
Woah...massive question. With that budget you will find a flat or house almost anywhere in London, altho it would only stretch to a flat in some areas. It depends on so many factors....what kind of area are you looking for/prepared to live in? Somewhere easy/cheap to commute in and out of central London? Somewhere with lots of culture...galleries/restaurants/bars? Do you want a garden? Are local schools important? Do you want to be near a tube line or have no preference? Would you rather a bigger property in a high crime area...or a smaller property somewhere you are less likely to be wary of walking home to in the darK? do you know anyone in London...could be handy being close to them. Do you know any areas at all....and have feelings about them as somewehere you could live? You really need to narrow it down by ticking off your personal likes and dislikes. It is huge and a fantastic place to live....but only if it offers you what you want. It can also be a nightmare. As a Londoner....you get the most out of it if you use what it has to offer.

OK I'm biased but I recommend Lewisham in SE London - handy high street, nice green spaces, close to Blackheath and Greenwich park, LOADS of transport options, (train into town takes less than 10 mins) nice sense of community and your budget would get you a lovely home - a 1-2 bed Victorian conversion or a more modern development, you would have lots of options.
Since crossing London can take up to an hour though, I'd see where you were going to be based first and work it out from there.
