Who at C4 thought it was a good idea to give the game away during the link before the start of the program?
I was really looking forward to this episode of Grand Designs Revisted as it was going back to one of my favourite builds by Ben Law in Sussex. During the link before the program the woman said something about "babes in the wood" which immediately destroyed the program for me as it was obvious that Ben had found a partner and had a baby since the last program. When this was revealed at the end of the program it did not have the same effect as it would have if the link had not contained a 'spoiler'.
Fantastic house. Have I understood this properly - when he dies/retires, the house must be destroyed and cannot be taken over by another person? What a waste...
You are correct. The planning people probably insisted on a covenant being applied which means that he cannot pass it on. However, as he now has planning permission for an extension it may be possible that this condition may be relaxed in the future.
One bad point was the irritating background music, if the people on the project don't have to suffer it and the people filming it don't have to suffer it why should the viewers?

I agree, first time around it is a great example of what i enjoy about GD, except the show is basically a repeat of the last series! We wait for a "new" series with anticipation and was delighted that GD was back on our screens last week, then for only the 2nd show of the so-called new series we have to endure a repeat-sorry i mean "revisited". New material in the show lasted all of 9 mins - to me that is not good enough. Im sorry but this has completely peed me off!! Get it sorted C4, please. I cant believe that they are struggling for material this early.
whilst I like occassionally watching repeats of GD shows (the water works being a fav.) it is really annoying that the 2nd show of a NEW series is a gloried repeat - I doubt that the new material accounted for even the 9 mins you credit them with 'notbrooky'... whilst I understand that they probably cant find enough self builds for a 20 part series, surely there is enough for a 10 part series??? if not - we'd happily wait for a series every 2 years! with a legit revisted series inbetween (ie at least 15mins of new material per show - include outtakes!)
As I recall (or as my girlfriend noticed, anyway), the first show (with the house at the bottom of the garden) had over-run its building schedule by some margin. I wonder if the original intention had been that it would have formed part of the previous series of GD, and that this 'new' series is therefore just a means to show that one late house once it was eventually finished and then tag on some revisiteds... (ie it was never meant to be a fully new series at all).
Hah - what a copout - GD is my fav program and tuned in last night too see a new episode and get to see the woodman AGAIN! Now tell me is this program about houses or characters anymore. I wish the geezar well but I was virtually cringing last night.

I watched the repeat of this today (I think I even missed this 1 1st time around) and I agree 100%...the building should have another purpose if Ben decides to move on...
