Hi

I've turned my central heating off but now we've got no hot water. The hot water & central heating have separate controls on the panel so theoretically we should be able to just have the hot water without the heating however, it won't heat any water if the heating is off. It shows on the control panel that the water is on but it doesn't warm up. The boiler is only switched to number 2 at the moment - do I need to turn the boiler up or is there something else which I need to be doing ?? Any help/suggestions gratefully appreciated as we are having to swelter so that my little boy can have his nightly bath !!

Thanks in advance !!

Sucks teeth! Gets out pencil for quotation....quick look around for hidden camera's in case Dogwatch are on the case.....

Don't know! Big Grin Not enough information.

But my best guess on what your telling us all:
3 way valve not working? Stuck on CH instead of moving around to HW setting? Timer control set wrong? (that's always a fave at this time of year Big Grin)

What make of boiler is it? Combi or conventional?

Mel (with lashings of hot water!)

Have you checked your water pressure guage thingy?

My CH did the same thing, and it was a simple case of whilst everything was circulating, the burner stayed on, and it was fine, but once I switched it off there wasn't enough water pressure to fire up the burner, so I no longer had any hot water.

The solution was to turn the little tap thingy until the barometric guage thingy was back in the green zone.

Once done, I again had hot water.

Another option is that, your pump has become skanked up.
Mine cost £120 for a professional prodding of the pump by my friendly Plumber recently (after the first switch off of the CH for the season), and then it was all working again.

Ary.

Cheers everyone - I'll print this off & give it to hubby (not that he probably knows any more than me !!) It's a conventional boiler & I've checked the timings on the water & they're right (I know how to do that Big Grin) I'll get him to check out all the thingy's tonight !!

thanks again !!
