Looking for some advice from anyone who has had these laid. We are looking for floor tiles to lay in the hallway, kitchen, downstairs toilet and utility room. We keep seeing granite floor tiles and would really like these however I am worried about water stains and marking and also the cost of laying them. I asked at one tile place about the cost of laying (we have not yet found a tiler or had quotes) he said to expect £15-20 per square meter charge for a tiler and should not be any extra for laying granite. Also can seal it but should not be any need to. However asked at another tile place and she said tiler could cost double as granite is involved and also that a sealent would have to be used but once this is down it never has to be done again. Also a little worried about if anything is dropped on them are they easily cracked or is that the same with any tile used?
An old friend of mine had granite tiles in her kitchen... they looked absolutely stunning. But she had not got them sealed and two very nasty unremovable stains happened when the bin leaked and she broke a bottle of milk. She picked the medium grey flecked colour and the stains showed as much darker. Also I agree that they much be much dearer to lay as her's were not done well and quite uneven in places and even loose as the tiles had not been bedded in well enough for the weight of them.
