There is a limit on the tolerance though as taking too much weakens the structure. Measure the door you've currently got and then graze a few web sites for more pleasing alternatives. Can't remember if you said how old your new place is, but if it's a period property don't forget you can reinstate the original splendour via a good salvage yard.
