Not sure if this should be here or in DIY really....

Also not sure if it's a really stupid question! Are uPVC door sizes the same as wooden doors? I'm moving to a house with the former and would really like the latter - how easy is it to change them?

I take it the plastic door is the exterior door and you don't have them running all through your home! Modern doors come in a range of fairly standard sizes, but the good thing about a wooden door is if it's marginally too big it can be trimmed to fit. There is a limit on the tolerance though as taking too much weakens the structure. Measure the door you've currently got and then graze a few web sites for more pleasing alternatives. Can't remember if you said how old your new place is, but if it's a period property don't forget you can reinstate the original splendour via a good salvage yard. Smile

lol - yes, just the front and back doors which, bizarrely, are about 2 metres apart on the same wall! The existing doors seem wider than usual, somehow. Of course, they have uPVC frames too (yuk), so I guess it's not a DIY job Frown

The house is from 1925.....

I'm really glad the trend is going away from plastic. They are awful.

Gulp, look at your neighbours' doors and, if they have no objections, take photos. Then you can source a good match from reclaim. A mid-20s door would probably have had some lovely glasswork!
