I have just bought a 3 bed semi which has an old back boiler central heating system which I want to replace with a combi boiler.
The house could also do with rewiring before I do any decorating and move in but I wanted to know which order I should do the heating and electrical work in - wiring first and then heating or the other way around?
I'd appreciate any advice concerning this, pretty clueless I'm afraid on this sort of thing!!
Wiring first as there will be plastering and finishing requirements so after that you can make sure everything is ready for decorating, then you won't have the hassle of moving radiators or painting behind them as they will be put up later when you have the new boiler installed.

Wiring first, making sure a supply is provided for the new boiler. Then heating, then decorating - it may be a hassle painting behind a radiator, but you wouldn't want to decorate then have to lift floor boards, skirtings, drill holes in walls etc.
I'm hoping to be able to get the boiler fitted out the way in the loft if possible - will I need the electrician to wire in a power supply when the wiring is sorted?
How about the various control panels and room stats - will they need wiring creating at the same time the wiring is done?
I guess I'm thinking do I need to get someone to design the heating system and where wiring will be needed first so I can get the electrician to sort it when the wiring is done?

Many thanks,

Most competent CORGI fitters are capable of installation electrics without the need to employ an electrician. That also includes the design of any system you are having installed. Loft installations will require additional work so be prepared for extra costings.ie. loft has to be boarded for access to boiler, loft lighting, ladder for loft access and so on ....your installer will advise you.
