I'm thinking of buying a house that's been tarted up [ I know not ideal- but it's the only one of it's type for sale in the area I want.]
Anyway my query is that the roof hatch is way too small for anyone to ever have been up there. It's only about 12 inches x 6inches. I'm obviously going to have a proper survey if I go ahead and put in an offer, but before shelling out on that, I want to go around again and peer through the hatch with a torch. It's a victorian cottage so what should I be looking for? And what should make me walk away. Any advice welcome.
I've seen small hatches in Victorian cottages before - but not THAT small! If your head is wider than the six-inch maximum on that hatch, I suggest you use a torch and a PERISCOPE!
Seriously, you would probably get a better idea of the roofs condition from an external inspection. The rest is down to your surveyor...
