In a house does the waste from the toilet and the bath and sink go to the same place when emptied. So does it all go to the sewerage works or does the bath and sink water go somewhere else, and does the water that goes down the grids on the streets go to the sewerage works?

In my house only the toilet is plumbed into the foul drain. The bath/sinks go into the same place as the gutters.
I don't know if there are any rules regarding such things.
I can imagine that methane pressure could build up more in the foul drain and so push back the realtivly small amount of water in the trap of a sink / bath so prolly best not to plumb them in to it

All waste water, sewerage and bath water go down the same pipe eventually and yes, there will be exceptions to this rule depending on the age of your house and dodgy DIY pipe installations etc.

Surface water (rain) in a LOT of circumstances is channelled through seperate pipe systems but not in all circumstances depends when your house was built.
New (?!) regulations came in last year which now permits rainwater to drain into soakaways in the ground (as it always was, just like my property) rather than into a dedicated underground pipework.

All ours (Victorian house) goes into the same place. But as Mel says, there are new regulations (aren't there always) which means it depends on when your house was built.

Our loo, sinks and bath use the same foul pipe as we live in a 2nd floor flat. Rain water from roof goes straight into the river at the bottom of the garden - and yes our management company is CHARGED nearly £1000 pa by the water co. for this "service".
