I REALLY hate ironing and was thinking of buying a steam press.

Does anyone have one or have any comments on them?

I have just got a steam genarating iron and it's brill, now I have got the knack of using it, it is so quick and easy, I won't go back to a normal iron now Smile

This sounds really sad, but I have just bought a new ironing board cover, and all of a sudden ironing seems a little bit more bearable!

So I'll see if this new found tolerance lasts and save some £!

prettypolly..what is the difference in a good steam iron and the one you have..i am just wondering if it really helps with ironing. As i dont have much ironing to do these days the only thing I have to make an effort with is duvet covers.....

I think it is because the pressure of the steam is so much better that the creases come out straight away, especially on duvet covers Big Grin

I bought a steam press last year and I have to say it is FANTASTIC! Big Grin... I have never been so organised with my ironing! in fact I end up looking around for more ironing...now how sad does that sound! eek! seriously though, they are well worth the money and not that expensive (mine was £149.00 which includes a stand and free postage) Now all my bed linen is beautifully pressed and it does jeans like a dream! I can recommend the website where i got mine from if your still interested Smile.

May you live all the days of your life.

I was in J Lewis and saw the inflatable shirt steam/iron thing being demonstrated (it was also on tv recently). It was impressive but v expensive. An Italian man with a clothes shop was v interested.

Yeah. It pressed a shirt really well and as i HATE ironing shirts, it was tempting, until I saw the price ... I read today that someone is inventing a machine that washes, dries then irons your clothes... i want one of those!

I have to agree with PP, the steam generator iron is brill, couldn't go back to an ordinary steam iron, and its light to handle as you dont need to fill it with water. Wink it makes ironing so much easier. Wink

I was going to buy one but baulked at the price. Next time maybe. I use ironing water these days and it makes the clothes smell really nice.
