Over the last few months my dyson has started to smell like summat has crawled in and died euuuu this only happens when i start to use it...now i have not cleaned it for a while...but surely that can't be the reason why it smells so bad can it?

Has anyone else had this problem if so how did they sort it?

Hmmm perhaps dirt has got onto the motor and gets burnt off when you switch it on. Smile

Or have you been sucking up mice with it?

I have one of those filters that you clean...could it be that it just needs cleaning the filter?

at the bottom of the cleaner there is a sponge type filter...remove it ans wash in warm soapy water and also clean the paper part with warm soapy water..rinse well and leavr on a radiator to dry...also wash out the cylinder and leave to dry........check all hoses too and if they are really dirty inside rinse them also....dont do this to any hoses still attached to the cleaner...also add some zoflora to the final rinse and it is a disanfectant with some lovely smells and every time you use your cleaner it will leave the room smelling lovely

I use those Vacuum air fresheners in my Dyson, just get an elastic band & tie it round the part of the machine that you fit the cylinder over. Might try the Zoflora though, that would smell nice. Wink

Chaddy, bet you were cleaning it for ages! At least you got rid of the smell, and had a lovely shiny new Dyson at the end of it all Big Grin
