Sandy, That is one of my all time favorite scary movies. It chills you to the bone especially when the medium is scratching on the paper and you can hear the voice of the ghost on the tape recorder. OOOOOOOH!! I've had enough blood and gore movies when I was a kid. Now I prefer mysteries and ghost stories. There was another movie (from the 70's) that was really good too. It had all these older actors in it and they had committed a murder when they were at university and covered it up. Then they all started dying one by one and thought it was the ghost of the girl they killed. I don't remember the name of that one though.

I remember watching the old one , one night with my daughter, dad was in bed. When the noise started, we sat on sofa holding on to each other.

I can't watch scary movies or even really scary thrillers. I have such an active imagination, whereas everyone else can switch off and go to bed. I just seem unable to do that and can't sleep for some nights afterwards.
When I was a teenager I watched Carrie, where the hand comes out of the ground at the end. Some time back we were switching through the channels and came across it just as it was finishing. As Mr SB had never seen it I thought it would be funny to see if it scared him. It didn't scare him but again scared the bejeeza's out of me !
