pretreat with vanish and use the vanish bar, if the fabric allows it (check the label and maybe try on a smaller area). i'd suspect it's grease as well as actual curry spice, so that should do the trick.

K & A recommend biological detergent and hydrogen peroxide. They say that some curry stains contain strong natural dyes which are almost impossible to shift. Dab with a strong solution of detergent before washing. Soak stubborn stains in a solution of hydrogen peroxide bleach.
Just been reading a New Scientist article about curry stains - turmeric is the hardest stain to shift, virtually impossible according to them, so hope you prove them wrong

What is curry? I'm from the USA, and as far as I know, curry is a spice, and that's all. I've watched this and other shows on BBC America, and it seems like "curry" is a kind of broad word. Can anyone help set me straight?
