as things are a bit quiet on here and the games have fizzled out i thought about a new post of our favourite cleaning products and why we like them or pass on fav tips for a particular job.


I like atonish stainless steel cleaner @ £1 - £1.25 a bottle from most £1 shops. I use the stainless cleaner on my sink after use and it really shines it up and has a lovely metalic smell too.great for taps in the bathroom to.

Cant beat the new Flash multi surface and glass cleaner, 99.9% of all germies killed and actually smells quite pleasant.
I use it to clean me windows, and all surfaces in the kitchen including stainless steel Hob and there are never any streak marks.
Have seen in Asdas this week a new product from Jif/Cif. Its an oven cleaner (like Mr Muscle) but in the same style spray bottle that they do other products in. It says on the front that it has no harsh nasty chemicals on it. Was £3 something. Has anyone tried it yet?

I like the astonish stainless steel cleaner, and the dettol 4/1 sprays. But i'm addicted to the vanish oxy, for my wash, and the vanish tablets are especially good. Tried the astonish oxy plus but felt it wasen't as good as the vanish.
What furniture polish do the rest of you like. I'm using the Pledge orange at the moment. Now and again i use Wood Silk, which is very good. Once bought Guardsman, very expensive, big mistake, it was horrible, and didn't even smell nice, It went in the bin, money down the drain.

The Vanish bar, Astonish Orange paste (not the lotion, this one comes in a square tub), the new Flash scrubby wipes in the silver pack, good old saddler's leather wax, Sagrotan spray and wipes (German disinfectant)

Honestly… you leave women on their own for a while and they always go back to the same topic!

I think its important that women get aquanted with cleaning products, especially nowerdays when they seem to think they can do other stuff.

Yeah, like drive... or rather try to reverse with the hand brake on.

Dettol Green Apple, mmmmm, smells good enough to eat - but don't try that at home!

I find that Ecover toilet cleaner is very good. It got rid of a water stain in the toilet (due to iron in the water I think) whereas other toilet cleaners did not, and has kept it free of it. As well as being effective it is also meant to be an ecological cleaning product and good for the environment.

I love Dettol 4/1 spray, I have started using CILLIT BANG as well, Astonish Stainless Steel cleaner, Astonish Wooden Floor cleaner, Parazone toliet wipes, Tescos blue toliet cleaner (lovely smell and only about 60p a bottle I think).

i see those two are trying to degrade woman...just as the post under stray cat problem has been removed..due to their cruel comments about animals....Well they must be very insecure and anyway women can multi task and not all woman drive with the handbrake on...and what does a sales man like to say.....one careful lady owner...not little boy racer.....

I'm just getting a bit fed up with those two. Should someone tell them this is a cleaning forum. i know what I would really like to tell them.

That basically means that the car in question has been kerbed and thus the tracking is probably wrong, the clutch will have been slipped too much and will be considerably worn and there will also be scratches on the doors from handbags/rings etc. not to mention dings on the edges of the doors from where the door had been opened into a nearby car and also dents on the rear section caused by shopping trolleys that were allowed to run into the car. Anyway, SS and WT, my husband and I have 1 car between us, and has i am the only one out of the pair of us to have had insurance since starting driving at 17, I am the main driver on our insurance (hubby is named driver) I have got 12 years no claims bonus - almost - as because it is protected NCB on the ins, and because HUBBY has had 2 prangs in (diiferent) cars we have owned over past few years, my NCB that I have built up over the years is now hanging on a thread!! Yup a MAN has done this - not me - AKA very good lady driver.

In fact I was asked to be a drag racing driver by a friend several years ago, but had to decline due to other commitments.

It is a known fact that MEN cause the most accidents and crashes in cars. Anyway what's this got to do with cleaning products? Or are you looking for tips for cleaning cars? Ask me as I have owned everythig from my first car - a VW Beetle to my current car an Audi TT!

I agree. I have been driving for 7 years and only had one accident due to a male driver crashing into the back of me because he wasn't looking were he was going. And another thing my hubby doesn't do the driving because he doesn't have his license.

Men do cause accidents on the road, women are better drivers as they are more careful and I am not one of those women drivers that does 30mph all the time. I do like my speed!

Yes, this is a cleaning forum so if you are talking about drivers take it to the car forum!

In my experience women have no problem going fast in a straight line, but show them a corner and they have to slam on the brakes, it's basic car control and spatial awareness that they lack.

I’ve seen women driving fast on motorways etc. that think they’re gods gift to speed, but when given the opportunity to show their aptitude on a racetrack their driving skills are almost nil. In fact if it weren’t so funny laughing at them getting it wrong, it would be quite worrying seeing that they are allowed on public roads.

My wife is a profeshianl driver like myself PCV, she is also training to be a driving instructor and has been told she dosnt need to worry about passing the 3 very stringant driving tests as her standard of driving is extreamly high. I bet you havent driven anything other than a car and I bet you are a boy racer with a cap and a face full of spots.

a) by far the most accidents, including the most serious accidents, are caused by men. Fact, not fiction.
b) an aptitude test on a racetrack does not make you a good driver on a public road. I've seen men and women do beautiful and perfect brake manoeuvres on the track and ultimately bricking it when they have so much as a rabbit crossing their way on a dual carriageway.
c) Other than at 3 a.m. - when can you actually drive 'fast' on motorways in this country?

I am a woman and I can take a corner at high speed with no braking involved! And you know what I am ashamed I have just admitted I can do so cos it's not something to be proud off!

My hubby hangs on for his life when I drive because of the speed I take which I am not proud to say that but I am careful too. But obviously women are more talented if thats all you are worried about - how women drive!!!!!
