Hi!! cleaningproducts and welcome. The dyson is very powerful, but i hate mine. I got the Dyson animal, the purple and grey one and that machine and i have never seen eye to eye. i end up pulling out my little Murphy richards £50 upright.

i bought a Dyson about 4yrs ago and mine is purplw and turquoise and upright..well after a year we changed from carpets to tiles and wooden floors..it was too heavy to carry upstairs and when Index were closing I bought an upright JMB for £14.99 in their sale and it is brill..I have carpet on my landing and stairs only....the hose underneath on my dyson split (out of warrenty now)and is about £10 to replace so I taped it with parcel tape...now the long extending hose has split and is expensive to replace too so it is getting taped up this week...Dysons are good but over priced and there are other cleaners on the market just as good and less expensive....
You can shop around for Dyson parts, I got a pack of 3 filters from the pound shop! And some market stalls sell other parts too. I've had mine for years, it's the 01, purple & red, they are heavy to lug about, especially going upstairs with them. Can't say I love or hate it though, it's only a vac after all!
im not keen on dysons - they feel a bit plasticy and might break easily - and i dont want to see all the crap off my carpets wizzing around - errhhhhhhh

I'm on my second Dyson, the animal one, and I do like the extra little attachment for furniture etc. Having said that I don't think it's as good as my first one and the brush gets bunged up really quickly.
I'm glad most people have the same opinion as me regarding Dysons. My friend has one and thinks it's great. We bought the first Dyson that came out and it wasn't great at all, the only good thing about it was the long hose idea, so it's easier to clean the stairs.
We have a Kirby now and when the salesman came round he poured salt on the carpet and asked me hoover it up with the Dyson. I really went over it really thoroughly cos I wanted to get one over on him. However, he hoovered over where the salt was with the Kirby and loads more came out. Needless to say we bought the Kirby.
Having said that I would recommend a Kirby cleaner but should you require any kind of customer service from the company you can forget it. Absolutely cr*p service.
I had the grey & yellow model Dyson for a while & couldn't get on with it. I now have a 'Sanyo Pulse bagless' upright with hepa filter & would say it's the best cleaner i have ever had. The suction is amazing & it's really easy to take apart & clean.
Wish I'd read this last week! My Dyson finally had it's day after 9 years!
Thought I'd have to find £200 for another, but as Xmas is coming up, bought a cheap Bush cylinder cyclonic bagless (ie same sort of science as Dyson) - and I have to say it's great! And only £50! Doing the stairs now is a joy! Don't know why I didn't do this years ago!
Ok, so it might not last me another 9 years, but for now it's perfect!

If you have any of the tools from your old Dyson. You might be able to sell them on Ebay. A few more pennies for Xmas maybe?
If you have cyclone cleaner that isnt a Dyson they are not the same. because the dyson is a patented desine the others are not the same and they clog there filters quicker. go for a dyson route 8 cyclone with bottom emptying bin and if you have alagies go for one with a heper filter.
We have had our purple and lime DCO4 for about 4 years and it has a heper filter my dust alergy and my asmer are no longer affected by doing the hovering
I bought my purple and grey dyson for £200 reduced from £300 and I thought I was getting a real bargain. Also, I never thought that I would spend that much on a vacuum cleaner. Anyway, cut to the point... it's rubbish and always has been. All the different tubes and attachments make it too complicated and heavy. It's flimsy plastic parts feel like it's going to break as well. In all, a big disappointment! Am currently using a small Electrolux which cost £35 and it's smashing.
i have a dyson and it will be the only dyson i will ever buy...far too heavy,i keep a cheap upright for upstairs, the dyson is now out of guarentee and I do need to new parts...the big hose has split near the top and the very small u shape hose underneath has also split..both are well tapes at the minute as it will cost app £30 to replace them both...the only carpet i have downstairs is my living room rug and i have carpet on my stairs and landing only.....a brush would do the same job!!!
Chaddy i found the Dyson after care very good. I phoned them, to say my hose was faulty, kept coming out, and they sent me a new one in days, only to find there was nothing wrong with it i was using it wrong. i now have two.
