Hi to all of you,
Big GrinI've never been on a forrum before and I'm here out of desperation! I am moving and have too many things to do Eek. What I want to know is does anyone know good tips about how to get plastic shower curtains clean ( Quicker/easier than laying the whole thing out in the garden and scrubbing it)??

How about shoving it in the machine or, better still, go to Asda and buy a new one. I think you can get them for a pound or two. Wink Good luck.

Intrigued about this question too!!! I also want to know the best way to clean them. I'm not sure if you can put the plastic ones in the machine either. They do get covered in water marks easily don't they? I'm afraid in the past i have gone and bought a new one! But it would be handy to know the best way to clean them (again without having to scrub the whole thing in the garden!)Sorry i have no answer but will be checking this thread for an answer too!
(annoying i ripped one of the eyelet holes in mine this morning while cleaning the bath Frown)

I know, but I remember hearing some advice on a radio or TV program some time ago, about putting it in a washing machine with something- I just can't remember what though and I thought that someone here might know?

always put ours in on 40 with bio powder and a cap of bleach. normally does the trick. Or spray it with mold remover first then wash it.

And a plastic one is ok in the machine? I would worry about putting bleach in the machine though, in case it lingered about and got in with my clothes.

Open the shower curtain after use to allow it to dry out thoroughly, don't sponge it down till it's fully dried. If you don't want to risk putting it in the washing machine just soak it in warm water with bicarbonate of soda & use lemon juice or weak bleach to dab away patches of mould. Leave for a few minutes, rinse clear then dip the curtain in a weak vinegar solution to discourage mould. If you do put it in the washing machine add some large towels, you can use half a cup of vinegar or a cup of bicarb in place of powder. Remove plastic/vinyl curtains before the spin cycle & hang up to dry immediately. Hope that helps you. Big Grin

That was it! towels! I won't use bleach, don't like it. But bicarb is brilliant isn't it I finally got round to doing my shower properly - because we are moving and I will carry on in the new house now.
Thanks alot to all of you Moon

FB that tip is worth its wait in gold.

Bleach in the mashine is fine in moderation, and will not linger. Plastic is ok at 40 degrees. I have done it loads of times, works on the pollyester ones to.

Washing machines should just have an 'on' and 'off' switch... it would be so much easier, I've got no idea what all the knobs and dials are for.

Glad you liked the tip (I haven't even got a shower.........! Big Grin) Don't really think it matters where you put the bicarb but as MR says putting it straight in the drum may be best, it can start working straightaway then.

It's only in tiny little containers in cake-making sections, if you have a large-ish Boots store, you can ask for a bigger pack or you can order big packs over the Net.
