I have a friend who does his shower curtains, rubber bath mats etc at 90c to kill off any germs or mould just with a dose of tesco biological powder, does the trick and surprisingly nothing has melted

After every shower we spray on a no-rinse daily shower spray (supermarket own brand is fine) and the shower screens stay sparkling and clear with not water marks or mould. Would probably work on shower curtains too. It's so easy - no scrubbing required (but I think you would have to start off with the shower relatively clean.)

we use a shower spay from Lidal, very good stuff. Did shower curtain today at 40 degrees, with powder and half cup of thin bleach and it came out like new.

I might just take the risk of machine washing mine next time, although from what everyone has said it shouldn't be a problem. If anything does go wrong and it melts or something, I can just buy another one, which is what I usually do anyway when mine get too yukky!

It won't melt, but it might get creases that you can't get out.

It shouldnt do, expecially if you hang it out straight away and make sure its on the sun as the warmth will drop any creases out. I machine wash my plastic backed tablecloth the same way and it always drops any creases within an hour or 2 of being in the sun

I washed a plastic backed table cloth in the machine once and it was ruined - the plastic backing sort of cracked and creased. Maybe it was too hot/on too fast a spin cycle. Anyway, I won't be doing that again as it was quite an expensive one (French).
