Hi
I've had a Bosche dishwasher for a about 5 years which has recently packed up it hasn't been that reliable during the time I've had it so I am in a dilemma as to which brand to chose next. It has to be a slimline one too due to space issues in my kitchen.
Only Which? online seems to have reviews about dishwashers I can't find infomation anywhere else. So I wondered if you good people could help me which brands do you rate?
Thanks

well we got a new one last year from Argos, its a BEKO and was the cheepest one they did and its not faulted yet it also out performs our old Hotpoint one in terms of washing and drying. We also had a BEKO washing mashine for years with only 1 breakdown that was fixed under waranty within a week, my sister also had a BEKO washing mashine for about 5-6 years with no problem and she used hers every day. They do the slimline ones aswell and remember anything you order from Argos is only £4.99 delivery. worth a look

Don't they have built in timers that make them break down just after they have run out of warrantee?

i wouldn't recommend a hotpoint. i got a new one, and it didn't wash or dry well, and after three weeks of use, caught light and burned my house down! I have only just moved back home after 8 months! my new one is Miele, and it was more expensive, but does a lovely job, even at low temperatures. love it.

Hi
We replaced our unreliable Bosh dishwasher with a Miele, it performance is so much better than the Bosh, have had it for over a year now and would recomend, not sure about slimline ones though.

miele are good but expensive. Spare part are also quite expensive and sometimes hard to get hold of as the company dosnt like dealing with indapendant repair people.

I was told by an engineer that dishwashers (compared to washing machines)were relatively reliable so hopefully with a Miele you wouldn't need spare parts. When we got our Miele washing machine, there was a special offer and we have got a TEN year guarantee on it!!!! Eek

when we put in a new fitted kitchen over 3yrs ago I went for an intergrated fridge and dishwasher...and at the back of our garage hubby made space for washing machine and tumble dryer and upright freezer and on top of washingmachine i have a smaller freezer for home baking..when B & Q were colsing down and relocating we bought kitchen units in half price sale and work top and fitted the garage out...i got one small 600mm base unit to store my washing liquid and fabric softener and stain remover etc etc...great job and I have 3 lines in the garage too and when it rains i can hang things up and open the big garage door and side door and things get a great breeze and dry..plus when you are doing a big wash I can sort all the dirty laundry into their piles out on the garage floor (which is painted)and keep the kitchen tidy...

Do you keep your car in the garage too Chaddy, if so you must have a big garage. I wish i had a bigger kitchen, it's nice but not really that big.

You're lucky Chaddy! Smile We haven't got a garage, and the kitchen is really tiny, I'll have to find the measurements, but it's crowded when me & Mr FB are both in there. The fridge is in the dining room (sounds dead posh that, but it's not really!) Big Grin

True, but it doesn't suffer as much wear and tear as a washing machine for example - it's much simpler, ie basically just an electric element, pump and spray arms.

2 pumps, heater, solanoid valve, program/timer

washer has the above plus motor and drum. A dishwasher isnt normally used as much though.

I was only repeating what the washing machine engineer told me. If you think about it, a washing machine drum goes round and round at high speed with a load of wet clothes, often overloaded. The motor has to work hard and the bearings are under stress etc etc (I am not technical but you can see what I am getting at). Whereas it is just the spray arm that moves in a dishwasher. Our dishwasher is on as often that our washing machine, but I have never ever had to call someone out for a dishwasher though I have had quite a few call outs for washing machines.

This is just my view - don't want to get into a big argument Smile
