The word "craic" is Gaeilge and it means "fun".

i know it is called the republic of Ireland and we are in the north...we refer to the Republic of Ireland as down south...just a phrase......

I know, I have a friend from northern Ireland who says exactly the same thing and I have arguments with him over it. It just bugs me so much.

We also say across the border and The South.

Road Trip, We DO know it is called The Republic Of Ireland. It is quiet natural for us in the north to say were going down south. Another thing, EVERY country , be it island or whatever has a north, south east and west. A lot of people on here wouldn't understand, But in saying that, Road Trip is bringing Politics into this forum.
