Thank you so much, Shingar, I'm amazed you remembered the date as I'm sure it's ages ago it came up. Had a good day including a Christmas reunion of some of my husbands ex- work colleagues at lunchtime, so he didn't have to arrange any entertainment for me! An evening at home with a Chinese takeaway and a couple of bottles of wine with 2 out of 3 offspring so all in all a good day. Unlike the previous few days when we had a massive gas leak in the not-finished extension and had to put off putting the floor down until it was repaired, then we couldn't relight the boiler, so were all huddled round halogen heater for two nights. Leak repaired, heating on and floor laid today so next week electrician and plumber fiinishing off and the kitchen fitters come the week after. Work started at the end of September and I am rapidly running out of tether now so will be glad to get back to normal, though I think it will take a long time to get rid of all the dust. Had a lovely break in Cologne last week to visit the Christmas markets, I recommend it to everyone.

When I finished the last post I went downstairs to make a cup of tea (water from the bathroom) to find a steady stream of water coming from the diningroom ceiling, it was plastered on Monday. The plumber has just left (thank goodness we took out plumbing insurance with Thames Water) having fixed a pipe under the bath, nothing to do with the building work. Hopefully the ceiling will dry OK so that the electrician can put some lights in next week, at the moment we've just got a portable halogen lamp. I'm just about to open a bottle of wine...
