I think it was ordinary hand soap.

dove or baby soap do wonderful job..but rinse well and buff dry

An upholster told me to use baby wipes on my sofas & I have for about 2 years & they come up lovely & my sofas are still like new.

Same here Julie/Bella, I have used baby wipes for years, the ones with baby oil give it a great smell and soft supple feel
