I got the yellow and grey Dyson years ago, I was very pleased with it.After it started to die on me I decided to get the blue and grey one thinking it would be even better. Sadly I was wrong.
Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.

Are Miele vacs good for dog hair & laminate flooring? And which is the best model for them?

Yes, yes. I got the blue one (next model up from the red Cat & Dog) it comes with a horsehair brush for wooden floors, and also 'turbo' brushes for beating the carpets!

Just thought I'd check this forum for any advice about hoovers as I need a new one and Voila! what a lot of fab info i've found! Thanks guys!
I was told by a friend of mine who is a therapeutic masseur and deals with loads of people with back problems NEVER to buy a Dyson and I think he's right. I had one when they first came out and it broke really quick and was REALLY heavy. Then, (not being all that quick off the mark, obviously!) I went out and got another one, a later model. It was not AS heavy but it was still crap and lost suction. My mum also had one and hers was rubbish too. SO many people waste their money on Dysons. I think I will get a Miele next, they seem to be brilliant. I will check E-bay out first to see if I can get one from there (Amazon also have Dysons cheaper, maybe they have others too.)

I have the animal dyson - purple and grey one and i love it. I have wooden floors and carpets and it does both.

I have a Dyson DC04 and think it's the best cleaner I've ever had - yeah it's heavy and noisy but it does a great job and is still going strong after 3 years of abuse from me....
Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean to say that they're not after me...

After much deliberation, I've just bought a DCO7 allergy Dyson. It is great, much, much better than my old one. I vowed never to waste my money on another Dyson but it was £70 off in Tesco's and I couldn't resist it.
It nearly sucks the carpet right up it's so powerful!!!

I've just bought a new Miele, the blue one with the turbo brushes. I am delighted with it. It is very well designed and made to last 20 years. The floor heads are particularly good. I'd recommend it over my old Dyson any day.

That's the one I've got, Doc. I've recommended it several times over on the Ch4 forums. It's brilliant and the turbo brushes are great, if a bit noisy (scares the cat!)

To be honest Carol, it was probably one of your posts that gave me the idea! Thanks. When the dodgy Dyson died I replaced it in haste with a Hoover telios bagless cleaner from Argos. It was worse than useless. You had to wash and dry the filter every fortnight, and emptying the fiddly dust container was a right pain. The suction deteriorated quickly and it was useless for picking up hair, fluff and fibres. Near drove me insane! Now, with the Miele, vacuuming is a pleasure again.

Ok great info. As most of you know I still have only concrete floors and I am using an industrial hoover at the minute because any other hoover has broken because of the dust. I have been looking into new hoovers when all the floors are down and have been thinking of a Dyson but not exactly fond of the idea of the upright ones. Do they come in a normal fashion hoover style?

Oh yeah, one of my friends has a Dyson and she said hers lost suction but when she cleaned the filter it worked fine again.

Funny that, Shingar, because the latest Dyson ads say that you don't lose suction because unlike other vacuums, Dysons filters don't clog.

I don't know what the ads say Carol but thats what happened with her. She cleaned her filter and it started working again.

they do clog but they take ages and ages to clog, the heper filter is supost to be replased every year and the sponge filter cleened every 6 months. Thats with the DCO4 dont know about the newer ones.

Just got a new Dyson DC08 All floors (turqoise and blue) and I will say it is very good but so heavy. Had my DC01 for over 5 years and loved it thats why I got a new dyson but as my floors downstairs are now wood needed an all floors, love the way the atachments have proper homes on this one.

I've got the purple and grey animal one and I don't find it any problem. We have had to replace the tube and one of the tools though. I didn't know you were supposed to change filters and things in it, and I've had it 4 years!
I love Teddy! Kim & Aggie are queens of cleaning.
