thats one job i hate doing ,but have to do .
i do my oven once a forthnight Mad

if you get mr muscle oven cleaner, you just have to spray around the oven shut the door and leave for up to 1 hour depending how bad the oven is,then just wash off with damp cloth.
it saves you money ,why pay someone else to do it, Confused
if you,ve got money to throw away ,i,ll come and do it for you hun Big Grin

lils got the kettle on

Hiya, nasty topic! I understand that those oven cleaner people charge around £50 to bring your oven back to nearly new state. If your oven really is mingin then I would defo go this way and try and keep it up as no amount of ainsleys power spray or Mrs Muscle will do the whole job without you losing your rag!

Hate cleaning the oven, but like LIL, says its one of those jobs that needs to be done. I use Oven Pride, The shelves are put in the bag provided, with some of the solution over night, then just rinse and wipe. same inside the oven overnight. Its very good, takes the hard work out of it. Wink

hey guys, thanks for your advice. am gonna speak to mr.b to see if i can persuade him to part with some dosh towards it looking spick and span again. trouble is that the people that lived here before us used to have a lot of fatty/fried food so the top oven/grill is really yuk. well infact it doesnt work where it is so clogged up with grease!! Red Face bottom oven is useable but there are so many burned on bits that i cant get off it still lookes really dirty even after scrubbing it. Confused

I had a friend once who used to use a company called Oven Angels which was a small local company in Kent. (i think) They got her oven looking like brand new and she used to have them back once every coupla months to give it a going over. Bit of a waste of money I think, you can do it yourself with a few brillo pads and some hot soapy water, I've never found that any of these "Mr Muscle" type thingymajigs work very well. Never tried Ovenpride, never even heard of it. Brillo pads are great and cheap to boot! You HAVE to do it quite regularly though or it builds up too much.

Hi Sharlee i am a real fan of oven pride myself as I do a lot of home baking and cooking.....What you do is put the oven shelves into the bag provided when they are cold and add 3/4 of the solution and i advise you to keep it in a garage or outside incase of any leakages..turn this bag over several times at intervills to let the solution coat the shelves...I then spread the rest of the solution on stubborn bits on the cooker with a sponge and leave for a while or even overnight..i have self cleaning sides so I only need to do the base......take the shelves out of the bag carefully as the solution can burn and wash in warm soapy water..use a brillo pad for any wee stubborn bits...if you cooker and shelves are really bad you may need to do it again...hope this helps

I love oven pride too, but I got some on my arm and it really burnt me. The gloves they give you are useless. How does an oven get sooo dirty in the first place!? Confused

I know cleaning the oven is a horrible job. I use my steam cleanera and a knife (gently) to get rid of the hard stuff. I's much quicker than cleaning products.

I never use their gloves. Your good old marigolds are better.

I used my steamer yesterday and it did a fantastic job but also used the Orange sticky stuff remover from Lakeland to get rid of fat deposits. The steamer was great too for defrosting the freezer in 10mins rather than hot bowls of water etc.
