Can someone please give me some advice on how to eliminate a very bad odour that exists in my pan drawer. I have scrubbed and cleaned yet still cannot seem to get rid of it, my last resort is to dispose of all my pans and buy a complete new set just incase its that. Please Help Me.
I would try washing and drying the drawer thoroughly, then disinfecting with either a strong vinegar solution, or disinfectant, or bleach solution. Musty smells are often due to mould and mildew spores. You need to kill these off. Afterwards, try some bicarb.
It also occurs to me that you could pull out the drawer and check both the sides and underside of the drawer, in case of mould spores. Give these a clean, just in case.
Another problem area might be the wall behind the cabinet. Exterior walls can get quite cold, allowing condensation to develop, then this damp environment leads to mould and mildew. You may need to scrub the wall and then remove the mpuld with either Dettox Mould and Mildew remover (or a similar product) or a solution of half bleach, half water.
Finally, no smell will ever go away unless there is ventilation. The smell needs somewhere to go, and there needs to be some way for fresh air to come in. So try leaving the drawer open whenever you can. If the smell recurs then you might need to add ventilation. Perhaps driling some holes in the drawer front, or installing a ventilation grille in the wall behind the cabinet might be necessary.
