Anybody know how to clean a tie without taking it to dry cleaners?

Have you tried putting it in the bath and using baby or mild shampoo? Then hang it on the line to dry.Then again i have put my hubbys ties in the washing machine before now and they have turned out fine.

I've washed ties and they turned out fine. But you can get a tie mold , which you slide inside the damp tie, so it drys without loosing its shape.

They did use vodka, can't remember what the stain was . What a waste of vodka though........ (don't drink it myself but "m-i-l" does)

Hubby had a stain on his tie, i used vodka on it and it came out, just blot it though dont rub as it will stretch the fabric. I have tried to wash ties before and they dont come out how they went in!!

Does anyone know how to clean silk ties?

Im sure it was silk the one i cleaned with vodka, ill check n post back in a bit.....

No, it was polyester. sorry. not sure it would work on silk but i dont see why not

Well I put polyeseter ties in the washer on a quick , wash, and they come out ok. A while ago I washed a silk one by mistake and I know that doesnt work, will try the vodka but he will go to work smelling like a alcoholic. If anybody comes up with ideas let me know.
