hi Smile,i know this isn't the right place,but i know one of you in here will know,i am going to make some plum jam,what temp in the oven and for how long do i put the jam jars in for and thanks,any other tips will be lovely thanks.

I have never made jam but i looked in my delia smith cookbook. There is a recipe in there for apricot Jam, the only thing it said about the jars is
To sterilise the jars, wash them thoroughly in warm soapy water, rinse and heat in a moderate oven for 5 minutes.

sizzler i would just look on the interent for the recipie it should tell you on there!

thanks gully,i know how to make it,i can do it in my bread maker etc,i could look on the net,but i would probably get a 10000 different answers i only want one,the temp,so what is a moderate oven?.Smile

Forget what Delia said, i had a look in my Gary Rhodes book and according to him you prepare the jars as follows:

Warm sterilised jam jars and jam pot covers - prepare jars by washing in hot soapy water and leaving to dry and warm in low oven at - 130C/250F/Gas ½ for 10-15 minutes.

I do have a lot of cookbooks as i love cooking Big Grin

thanks that's perfect,i also like cooking,but i don't really use books i just make what i usually make or try something new that i think will work,maybe a recipie thread might work in here.

well the plum jam was no more,i told my ma in law i was making her some plum jam,she said are they ripe i said yes,then she said,it's ok i will eat them as they are,lol i thought,but at least i have the temp for the jars when i do make some jam,our park in the summer or earlier is full of brambles so i will make jam with them thanks gully,but if we didn't experiment meals would be the same/
