I have asked this question before but either i did not recieve a response from film4 or my query was not addressed on the forum. The one thing i use to love about Channel 4 was the fact they where the first channel to go beyond the norm and featured lesbian and gay films. At one point they had dedicated a season to it . What has happened?. Im a lover of Lesbian Romantic films and would love to see classics such as Greta Garbos " Queen Christina" and Barbara Stanywcks " Walk on the Wild side". Does film for have any plans to show these or dedicating a whole season or night to lesbian romantic films?
Many thanks for your post - unfortunately we do not have rights to the 2 specific films you mention. We are, however, showing a season of films around the 40th anniversary of the legalisation of homosexuality in July - the season includes Prick Up Your Ears, Victim, My Beautiful Laundrette, and Get Real. We will post more accurate times and dates nearer transmission.
wow Channel 4 Actually responded.. Im in shock..Thanks all the same... The films you have listed are specfically gay and not lesbian romantic films , am i correct? Do you have plans to show Lesbian romantic films?
I sooooo hate that film or any lesbian films that feature teenagers , simply because they give a whole negative spin on true lesbian relationships , with their " experimentism or just tickle the male audiences fancy" so i stay away from those kind of films. Desert Heart has beenfar by the best lesbian film i have seen to date and i am hoping that ch4 will somehow dig out those classics again
