Very disappointing upon watching this last night to find that, despite numerous warnings (even after commercial breaks) that the film was strictly for "adults only", the scenes where Isabelle Huppert went into a sex shop video cabin had the images on the screens optically fogged.
What's the point of screening serious, grown-up films like those made by Haneke, dishing out loads of warnings that the content is adult, then treating us all like children by censoring it?
If Film Four wants to have any kind of reputation as a serious film channel, then this kind of behaviour is unacceptable. I can understand perhaps a reticence regarding such explicit scenes, but plain old Channel 4 have shown such material uncensored in both The Idiots and Bodysong.
Yet another reason why I don't watch the channel anymore since going free...
