O.K. so Film4 are going to freeview, what is going to change 1.Will there be adverts during the film. 2.Will there be a Film4 logo in the corner. 3.Are films still being shown uncut. 4.Are the films shown still going to be rare and hard to find movies or will they just be standard popcorn flicks shown.
Can anyone can think of anymore questions we need answering.
I think the critical thing is if the adverts are going to confined to in between films, or if they're going to interrupt films. One is acceptable, the other isn't.
Mind you, being free you can't really complain too much, I guess. Were I paying then that would be reason enough to stop.
Many thanks for your posts - we will be putting a Frequently Asked Questions document up on the website in the next week or so, which should hopefully cover off most questions, but we can confirm that the new FilmFour free to air channel will carry advertising breaks within films. As soon as the FAQ document is available, we will let you know where on the website it can be found.
Yeah, that's a bit of a kick in the teeth. It will have to be an exceptional film before I'll bother Sky+'ing, DVD'ing, and then editing out the crap. Kinda makes the viewing experience somewhat less than what it should be.
Who'da thunk money-at-all-costs Sky would get it right, and right-on Film Four would get it so disastrously wrong? I'd say the 'powers that be' need changing, and rapidly before Film Four shoots itslef in both feet, and once in the head for good measure.

6 days since the above post - so the FAQ should pop up tomorrow!
That's absolutely hilarious. What is the most 'frequently asked question' that has turned up on the thread devoted to the changes at Film Four? Surely it's 'Will there be an on-screen logo?'. And what question is specifically not answered in the FAQ? Awww, how did you guess?
From this I conclude that:
a) There will be an on-screen logo.
b) Film Four are quite properly ashamed of this, and are trying to keep quiet about it for as long as possible, since they know perfectly well that viewers find these logos off-putting.
Which gives rise to another question: Since Film Four are perfectly aware that viewers dislike logos, why, exactly, are they planning on introducing one?
Now that's a question I very much doubt will be answered on the website's FAQ!
Originally posted by FilmFour Channel: The FAQ document is up there now, on the FilmFour home page, under the Find Out More section.
Thanks for nothing. I spent 10 minutes wading through that far too busy page and even using the search facility (a logical search for the word group 'find out more') found nothing.
So, your lazyness in not be polite enough to post a link means another viewer lost.
It's a bit rubbish, that FAQ. Didn't really tell us anything we didn't already know.
As for the pesky logo in the corner of the screen, I think we all know it's going to be there. We can only hope that they keep it small and discreet, unlike the horrible More4 one.
Oh, and unless I missed it, there was no mention of censorship in the FAQ. Would, say, Taxi Zum Klo screen in exactly the same version on FTA FilmFour as it did on subscription FilmFour?
That facts page is what I expected it doesn't meantion anything that could hurt the channel and totally avoids the questions they know we really want answers to.
Why does it matter if there is a logo or not on the screen?
Only reason i can see is people who are complaining about a logo are the ones who record the movies. IMHO logos dont do any harm to viewing the movie or program its just the same as watching a widescreen movie on a non widescreen tv, you dont really notice after a while.
The thing that really annoys me is people who record movies from tv on to dvd and then sell them on, you only have to look on E-Bay and you can see this kind of piracy all the time.
No offenced towards anyone but piracy is killing the movie industry by these modern day pirates.
Do Not Judge - Or Be Prepared To Be Judged Yourself!
Given that C4 recently showed a censored version of "Sex and Lucia", not to mention the regular censorship of 'adult' documentaries on C4, E4 etc (e.g. Porn: A Family Business), it seems likely that Film Four FTA will be censored.
