After seeing and loving the Korean season (R-Point can be ignored), i was wondering if Film4 plans on showing films such as Hero and House of Flying Daggers anytime soon?
These are my favourite type of film by far and yet i rarely get a chance to see them. I'm glad Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was shown, it's an underrated piece of action-art and most people miss the point entirely. What's the use of complaining about wire-work? Next people will be whinging that explosions in movies are "obviously caused by pyrotechnics".
Any info on the type of film mentioned being shown would be great, I wouldn't mind similar recommendations either. thanks.
I agree and just to add some more titles which I think should be shown are Kung Fu Hustle(It's very funny) and definately Ong Bak. During the Korean Season of movies I loved watching Oldboy and Lady Vengeance and hope to see Sympathy for Mr Vengeance which is in the trilogy of revenge themed filmed from the director of Oldboy and Lady Vengeance but hasn't been shown as part of the Korean season.
Might I also add that it would be great special behind the scenes shows could be shown for the Asian movies being shown on FilmFour as I find it interesting to see how they make movies different from Hollywood and Britain.
I forgot I would also like to see a movie called Ichi The Killer which I've heard is supposed to be good but haven't been able to see. It is like an Oldboy type movie which I think will mean there can be a good audience for.
I would like to thank FilmFour anyway for screening such great movies from Britain and Asia (Especially Studio Ghibli) as most of these movies hardly get shown on normal television channels and if they do they are put on in really late night slots.
Many thanks for all your posts and we are very glad you enjoyed the Korean season. We will be showing Kung Fu Hustle in the first quarter of next year, so more details to follow on that. We are showing the film Stephen Chow made before Kung Fu Hustle, which was Shaolin Soccer - this is on Film4 on Wednesday November 1st at 12.45 am. Hope you enjoy it.
