Please, please, PLEASE stop the yacking over the end credits of the films!!!!! It's driving me absolutely crazy. You invest YOUR OWN TIME in watching a film, and you expect to be able to watch the film without any interuptions right until the last second, but as soon as the film finishes some gob off starts yacking on about what's coming on next....we know what's on next!!!
The end of films often have some great music, and it's also a good time to check out who played various parts, and to look for bits of music that were in the film. It's also the time when you process all your thoughts about the film you've just watched, so you DON'T want a RUDE interuption until that last frame has displayed.
We all have TV guides, and 99% of us probably have access to a remote that provides us with an EPG and Now and Next information. I suspect that the majority of people with have decided what they want to watch already, so ruining the end of a film with end credit squishing and annoying yacking is totally unnecessary. Please STOP talking over the end of the end credits.
Believe it or not, we aren't morons that will be convinced not to switch channels simply by someone shouting at us at the end of a film.
STOP WITH THE YACKING AT THE END CREDITS! PLEASE!!!!
It drives me crazy You are not alone!!! I often want to know who plays minor roles, who did the stunt work, who was the horse master, I like to hear the end music. I do not want the credits squished to one side and talked over...its seems an act of vandalism to me..
Sorry folks but you are labouring under the misapprehension that C4/Film Four care..if they cared they wouldn't do it in the first place but they even started doing it whilst it was pay per view
Oh no, Film Four how could you wreck the ending of your films with this dreadful practice? And I thought you took yours film seriously. I take back the praise I gave in my previous email if you take the lowest-common-denominator approach of all the other trashy digital channels. Shame on you!
I've seen surveys quoted which report that around 75% of viewers appreciate being informed of forthcoming programs just as the current one is ending; broadcasters probably see such surveys as a way of justifying practice of talking over end credits. It's not just C4/F4 either, BBC and ITV also persist in this practice, often ruining some of the best closing film soundtracks in the process.
Whatever their surveys show the broadcasters are missing the point - there are countless ways of viewers being informed of future schedules whereas there is no way that those who really appreciate films in unadulterated form can remove these annoying intrusions. Here's a reminder of the many sources of program info: newspapers, TV periodicals, teletext, EPG, online viewing guides, Sky remote handsets...etc. On this basis the onus for planning viewing should be returned to where it used to be (when it was virtually unheard of for closing credits to be interrupted) - the viewers themselves. If they really must be informed by the broadcasters what's the hardship in waiting an extra minute or so until the program has completely ended?
Film4 runs the regular trailer 'We love film...we know film' - now let them (and their associated C4, More4) start to live up to this claim and stop ruining the endings!
