You need to rescan your box - CBBC has moved to Channel 70 as of last year.

Why was Godfather asking me for a pin last night?
I've watched several films since Film4 became free, but as it turned 9pm last night the screen went blank and I was asked for a pin.
I watch the FTA/FTV channels through a sky box.

Any plans to show Distant Voices, Still Lives?

I wanted to watch the Italian Job, so I attempted to record to my Pace PVR for later viewing. However, the quality was so atrocious - extreme blocking and jerky playback - that I assumed some sort of anti-recording device was in play. Is this the case with some of the newer films? Or is it just the case that some films do not transmit well over Freeview? Road to Perdition on the other hand recorded OK.

Must be the signal then, as I too have a Pace Twin with the latest firmware update. It's strange that it happened both times I recorded it and yet other films display and record OK! ('The Green Mile' yesterday was excellent both in quality and content: it certainly ranks in my top ten). I guess I could also try initialising my disk again.

Yeah that happened to me too.. though it happened only on Sky-freeview was ok. I guess it asked for a PIN because an (18) rated movie was shown at 9, before the watershed-I presume that is 9.30??????

Surely the fact that some people were and still are willing to pay rather than suffer adverts indcates that how you feel about anything cannot be held as yardstick for everyone. I too would have preffered Film Four to have remained pay per view, or have the option for a free/pay service, but it's not my call..it's C4's..doesn't mean I have to agree with it. You may not mind adverts, some do very much so but now that is no longer an option bar on BBC sadly.
huh???

It's not about "minding" adverts but the rather OTT claim that they could "devastate" anyone.

To have adverts during a film on a dedicated movie channel is beyond a joke.. The thing is 4 show some half decent films now and again but breaking them up is a total turn off, I see SKY are questioning their motives with their latest add capmpaign and rightly so.

There's nothing to question. 4 are raising revenue to pay for their channels. It's exactly what they are supposed to do. Sky motives seem to have more to do with the success of Film4's new free version. According to BARB, W/e 13/8 saw Film4 get 943.000 for SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION. The top ranked films on Sky Movies 1 & 2 - the only Sky movie channels showing data due to what seems an error on the BARB site - got 141.000 and 435.000. Now let's look at the figures for Film4 for w/e 14th August 2005. They got 11,000 viewers for their top film. It's clear the new format is a success.

Anime, so far Film4 is the only channel airing decent Anime, and I hope you have realized how popular you are for Anime as much as I have. Keep up the good work!

Studio Gibli was inspired - I watched as many as I could.
Was really pleased you showed Re-animator a few weeks ago, but I fell asleep in the second half, and didn't see if it was on again. Please re-show on a Saturday night (followed by the Bride of Re-animator if possible).
Battle Royale was also essential viewing.
