They did a sort of Hallo'ween night back in 2001 if I remember but since then there has'nt been one. It's a shame really, you tend to get more horror films on at Christmas than at Hallo'ween on TV (what the logic is behind that I don't know!). One day of horror films would be great, you could show the less shocking but creepy stuff earlier on a progress through the night to something extreme past the witching hour. Although I feel that if they do show any films on Hallo'ween they should be supernatural or occult type films rather than Sci-Fi style horror really, it is a pagan festival after all.
I'm afraid we have no specific programming plans for Hallowe'en this year. However, we do have regular horror seasons on the channel and our Extreme strand around midnight showcases the best in horror cinema, past and present, from around the world. So hopefully you'll find that the genre is adequately represented on FilmFour.
Why dosen't that surprise me? First you cut budgeting by axing FilmFour World and Extreme now your also cutting down on movies us filmfans want to see. Why do I still subscribe to the service?
Do you know how they will "celebrate" halloween in America? By broadcasting the “Masters Of Horror” series, due to air on American TV in late October.
For those who don’t know, Masters of Horror will consist of totally brand new 13 One Hour long episodes, each one written and directed by THE BEST HORROR FILM MAKERS IN THE WORLD. The directors:
Dario Argento John Landis Tobe Hooper John Carpenter Joe Dante Don Coscarelli George Romero Takashi Miike Stuart Gordon Mick Garris Larry Cohen Lucky McKee William Malone
Being a huge fan of horror, I would love to see this series as soon as is possible. These are fantastic directors that are involved and I’m sure the quality will be high. Anybody else want to see this? It would be great if Film Four could pick this up.
The website is mastersofhorror.net for those who are interested in more info.
Many thanks for your e-mail. We have no plans currently to show masters of Horror, but will certainly update you if that changes. Keep the suggestions coming...
Gosh. I really miss all the Halloween stuff they used to put on TV. Everything used to be halloween themed from the Kids TV up to the Horror movies at night. If you weren't going out trick or treating you atleast knew that you could stay in and watch spooky TV with your friends or family but nowadays TV programmers have no sense of fun.
