I accidently came across an article on Wikipedia describing world cinema (using the random page feature) and started reading on. At the bottom was a template listing most countries of the world and linking to lists of pages from those countries. It struck me how there have been many films from various places I would never have thought of. I mean, I know most countries have some sort of film industry, small or large; but there are places like Greenland and the Faroe Islands listed that have had their own films (albeit only about five). So it got me thinking, why not have a season of films dedicated to those from countries you never, or rarely, see a film from? Places like Iraq and other countries at war could be included. USSR and Yugoslav films could be shown painting a picture of old Europe. I think it would be a really facinating and exciting season exploring forgotton worlds and cultures. I guess it would be hard for Film4 to get their hands on such films, and some of them might be of poor quality. But still it would be worth the experience! Any thoughts?
