I have just completed a book called Life After Kes, published by GET Publishing, Shropshire, which surrounds Loach's gritty Northern classic Kes.
I am also working with Loach on a new transfer, from video to DVD, for Sony; who now own the rights to Kes. There is also a documentary being filmed, as well as the Museum crew, at the first major book launch – where Loach, Barry Hines, Colin Welland and myself, will conduct a Q & A session, at the 12th Bradford Film Festival, held at the prestigious Pictureville Cinema at the National Museum of Photography, Film and TV; on the 9th March 2006 (7pm). The evening will be hosted by Independent journalist Anthony Hayward (author of Whose Side are You On; Ken Loach – published by Bloomsbury). Most of the cast and crew will be present for this historic event and a special screening of Kes will follow.
With all the media attention with Kes does Channel Four intend to screen Kes in the near future?
