My very nice cream coloured underwear got washed on a 95 degree cotton cycle, and now it is a very lovely shade of pink Eek Does anyone know why this happened?

I forgot to include the crucial information - the material is polyamide and lycra (82:12) Smile

Pink is far better than cream, do not worry.

Pink is rubbish, wash them with your grey pants and see if they turn grey. Rudolph

You've ruined the lycra.

The temperature was too hot for it and it's reacted that way - sorry to break the bad news!

Actually, why on earth are you using such a hot wash for your undies? There's no need!

Be gentle on the fabric Wink

It was an accidental wash at 95 degrees. I'm not going with the lycra theory, doesn't lycra fall apart and go baggy when its ruined? I've never heard of it going pink.

It is actually a nice shade of pink but doesn't match anything else. I could try washing a few more bits on the same cycle to get some matching pairs

Oh I see - woh harsh accident!

I work with yarns and they can react in funny ways *nods* Is it a slightly yellowish pink?

Is it Lycra or generic nylon elastic?

Its not at all yellowish, its a lovely dusky pink. The whole item is pink and is 18% lycra 82% polyamide

Now I'm confused!

There wasn't a red sock lurking in the wash was there?!

No there wasn't anything red, it was mostly white cotton (hence the mistake) plus a pair of beige trousers
