As the final scene is supposedly Guy and Caroline at a railway station I'm going to make a wild guess that at the end of the series Caroline decides she doesnt want Mac (I know shock horror) and wants Guy but that he has already decided to leave for Switzerland. She tracks him down to a railway station and declares her love...

Either that or he's lost his job because of the incident, (he's lost his probation appeal) and she turns up to tell him he has it back...which melts into a lovely wee scene with him, Mac and Caroline happily cutting people up again...

That would be just like North and South. However, N&S is a favourite of Oriane Messina, one of the writers, so maybe it's a parody of that.

I don't want M&C to get it together until the very last moment, but I might cry if they don't make it at all. There's no point telling me it's just a silly comedy show...

But theirs is one of the great love stories of our time!

What do you mean I take these things too seriously?

I know the majority of fans want Mac and Caroline to get together but I think it works best and is far more interesting if she saves Guy. He needs the love of a good woman.

But that would warrant Caroline going to save Mac. She wouldn't just LEAVE him.

Hmm, maybe that's what Guy was doing with her at the train station.

By episode 8 she might realise she doesnt feel the same any more. The plot summary says:-

Mac, Guy and Martin make an offer to Caroline that she can’t refuse. Only she does. Or does she?

I just wondered if she'd had a change of heart about one of them and as its Guy and Caroline at the station instead of a final scene with Mac I just thought it made more sense to wrap it up that way and Mac ends up with Holly. I'm biased because I like Guy but I also want a less obvious end and Mac and Caroline together is a boring end as far as I'm concerned.

well this is what i think, when it says that mac, guy and martin make he an offer she cant refuse, i think they all ask her to marry her (not at the same time ovbiously), and that is when she goes to guy at the station. well that is just my theory.

OR:

Mac has finally got the consultants job at Sheffield and now has to move there to live, and because Caroline and Mac are back together Mac asks her if she will come and live with him in Sheffield. Caroline says yes, and the final scene is where she is about to board the train to Sheffield and Guy comes to say farewell and wish her luck [or rather to beg her not to go – to which she refuses him].

The previous ‘questions’ from the 'boys' was:
Martin asking Caroline if she’d give up Mac and date him instead [in a last desperate attempt], and Guy begging Caroline not to leave.

I like this ending and it seems to fit ok with the teaser episode description.
Im just praying that Mac & Caroline do finally get together or I may have a breakdown!
If they don’t Green Wing will have to switch classification from a 'Comedy' series to 'Tragedy'. Frown

[I get the feeling I’m taking all this 'Comedy' too seriously for my own good!]

Yes exactly, why waste the love of a good woman on a guy who can't appreciate it?
I know Guy may be slowly softening, but I cant see him melting the entire ice berg sufficiently to attract Caroline back by Episode 8.

He's insulted her far too often for her to have such a change of heart.
[Unless he drugs her of course, then it might work.]

Quick! You might make it in time to change the ending to that! I want THAT! *cries desperately*

That better happen.

Frown It makes me sad to think about the end of Green Wing however since it has to come to an end I like edzmen's guess. Although I'd feel sorry for Guy if Mac and Caroline both left him!

No dont feel sorry for Guy, he can go off with Sue White. They share the same attitude to life - I think they'd make a great couple!

Im touched that you like my version of how GW should end - but here's hoping its not fiction! Frown

Without getting too spoilery does Guy move in with Caroline. The summaries suggest it. I wondered if that gave them a chance to really get to know each other.

Well yes, hopefully it will just further convince her that Guy is not 'romance' material. The Episode guide does say that she regrets her choice of lodger.
And later in Episode 7 it says that she has 'to be cruel to be kind' - that could either mean she has to kick Guy out the flat - or [heaven forbid!] the 'hot date' she has in the previous episode has to be told that she isn't interested. Hopefully that means she has realised that Mac is 'The One'....

I live in hope...

A few quotes from a tv mag a few weeks ago!

"There was a vibe between them in the last series, and it's continued into the second one with lots of twists and turns" Stephen Mangan talking about Guy and Caroline.

"Caroline's not very good at making up her mind, and in this series she gets to snog a few more people. She's a snogaholic"Tamsin Greig on her character in series 2.

Read into it what you will but I think the plan is to keep the viewers guessing AGAIN!!!

I'm hoping she picks Guy, under that arrogance and total idiocy there hides a heart of gold (it is hidden very very well tho)

That's true actually, good thinking Razz!

It would just be silly if Caroline ended up with anyone but Mac because it's so obvious they're meant to be, now if Mac would just realise that again very quickly, that'd be great Smile

I think a sugary lovey dovey end with Mac and Caroline wouldnt be a Green wing end for me.

Series 3 may never happen and the writers/producers probably realised this when they were working on series 2 so I'm hoping the end of this series will tidy up the strands but still give some room to extend the series at a later date (maybe as a spin off).

Guy learning to really love someone with a glimmer of hope that Caroline can rub off on him a little has a messier more GW end for me. In ep 2 Guy says he's married to Caroline because thats what he really wants. I realy hope GW doesnt give us a Mills and Boon end and we get an emotional final scene where Guy learns Caroline does love him.

Im noticing a trend here:

All fans of Guy and Mr Mangan want him to end up with Caroline and vice versa for the Mac/JRT fans.

None of us really have any idea - were just clutching at straws.
In the end it comes down to where your loyalty lies...

Now THAT is a plot I like the sound of!

Is it just me or do Fridays seem further apart now the wonderful GW is back on our screens?? Smile

Yay, i want Edzem's ending. perhaps any important GW people who happen to be reading this could just nip off and re-do the final ep so that's what happens?

Fridays are WAY too far apart. it makes the rest of the week seem like such a waste.
