I've noticed the guys use their mobiles in the hospital, when you're not supposed to because it messes with the machines or something.

I just thought of this when I was watchin Ep5...leading upto the "Funky. Funkay" scene Mac walks round the corner using his mobile. And Boyce also uses it earlier in the same episode.

Weird.

caroline and guy both use their mobiles in theatre at one time or another.
apparently when they were shadowing surgeons bgw (before green wing) the surgeons did the same. Red Face maybe that's why the death rate is so high (at least, i think it is... Confused)

And that's only a matter of minutes after Caro ticks Sue White off for using her mobile ("pager") in the corridor ... how quickly we descend to the level of those around us!

Actually it was the old style analogue mobiles that were the problem, as they were mostly phased out by 1997 they are not too much of a problem anymore. But it is recommended not to use any mobiles around life support equipment because of the way the digital signal can interrupt electronics. You know the noise your radio or tv make when your mobile is near it? That's the problem - it doesn't stop the equipment from working it just interrupts it briefly.

Walkie talkies on the other hand shouldn't be used because the radio waves do interfere with vital equipment.

Sorry I'm a bit of a geek Wink

Mac: Are you lost or mis-placed?
Caroline: Too early to tell. I think I'm probably just mis-placed.
Mac: I wanted you to know if I was to mislay anything that was extremely important to me then I would probably rush down to the lost property office as soon as possible.
Caroline: Even if it was shut?
Mac: Even if it was shut. Even if it was in the middle of the b****y night - I'd go down there and bang on the doors.

Blimey... You know your stuff!

And as you say Mel21, Guy was going to smoke in theatre and Mac seems to think his surgical team play British Bulldog in theatre so I think mobile phones are the least of their worries!! Wink

Ooooh and Guy turning off the beep beep beep machine, or at least the beep beep beep noise, because it annoys him. That's a pretty big worry too! Actually, just Guy is a worry.. he seems to disconnect mnay things in order to prove his point..

does anyone wonder how Guy can pull stunts like that and still get away with it? like turning the beep beep beep noise off coz it annoys him without the patient popping their clogs.
Do you remember the time he got that tube thingy with the balloon thingy on the end and apparently farted down the tube so the balloon blew up? that was quite grossly funny.

Just so you know, i never remember the names of stuff so I just use the words; thingy, wotsit and thingymbob!

You can turn the beep beep noise off without turning the machine off. They turn off the noise quite often as it gets very annoying

and the beep-beep thing gets louder and faster like the patient's going to die, and Mac just walks off and Guy's a bit flustered, and just taps the machine, and it returns to normal. and then he says:"You don't fool me, sleepy!" and pretends to, like, elbow this poor person that has just almost died...

is it just me, or does anyone else think that the operating scenes are the best?

Yes I agree with you… They’re definitely my favourite Guy/Mac scenes because that’s normally when their rivalry is at its best. I love it in EP1 when Guy says “top up time, how long do you need?” Mac replies “5 minutes please” and Guy adds “I bet you can’t do it in 3!”

I read an interview once with Victoria Pile and she named the operating scenes as her favourites along with Statham’s coming out the cupboard with a recorder in his Y-fronts!
