I have to agree with this.

I don't think that they can afford for any of the cast to be out of any third series as it just wouldn't work. This stuff is pure genius and extremely hard work (from what we all see and I can gather from stuff on the net..) to create.

If the cast aren't all in, don't do it. I can give a classic example here.....Coupling.

A SUPERB comedy for the first 3 series, managed to keep it together, until for series 4 there was no Geoff. It ruined it for me. Would not want this to happen to Green Wing. I'd love to see more, I would but not at the cost of quality....

I definitely think Green Wing hasn't run it's course and could easily squeeze a further series out. I know some progrems stop before they get too repetetive, but that's something you could never accuse Greenwing of! Smile

I agree it wouldn't be the same without Mac tho, I think they'd need all the main characters to return. But as someone else said, if the last episode ties everything up then maybe that'll be sufficient

Even though i would like a third series i would prefer green wing to go out in a bang (not literally a you can never be to carful with the writters) but still i would it to be remembered as a great but weird (Big Grin) show npot to be as a has bin that is just dragging on.

Mac: I'm assuming you've taken painkillers?
Caroline: I want something stronger. I want the stuff you use... to kill people.
Mac: Nope, saving all that for Guy.

I've said this elsewhere so sorry for repeating myself, but I think that once the love triangle is resolved there is plenty of room for development of other characters for one more series - Harriet is getting interesting for example, and who would like to see Boyce do other things apart from wind up Dr Statham?

I agree that it would be difficult if JRT, SM and TG all left though - but it would be ok if they took up less screen time.

I would love a 3rd series for the reasons chatterbox62 has said but I don't think there will be one cause it takes forever for them to film a whole series and the editors spend absolutely ages editing all the scenes and doing the speed up/slow down effects that make GW great. It's not as easy as other comedy shows and probably a lot more expensive...!!

I think there is only scope for a 3rd series if some of the smaller characters take over the main story line. I don't think another Mac and Caro will they/ won't they series will work so there needs to be another story line. Sad as it is I think it might be better if there isn't a 3rd series. One of the best things about a series coming to an end is waiting for the next series with the same people and there are a lot of talented people involved in Green Wing so I look forward to the next big thing (Don't hate me!)

I don't know its an impossible choice, i'll just have to hope that when I flip the coin it somehow explodes and kills me.

i think there should defo be a 3rd series, but i agree with JRT and SM that it should be boycotted if the whole love triangle thing isn't sorted out. it's such a brilliant show, and i definitely think there are enough ideas for at least another series. if not, they could always make another few episodes just out of deleted scenes, if each episode is 2 1/2 hrs long before editing!

i really want a 3rd series but its been made pretty clear there isnt going to be one Frown, it would still work without JRT but not without all three of them. hopefully there will be random specials every now and then...

I said the next BIG thing not the next BEST thing and I didn't mean the next thing that is on tv at the mo I mean the next thing the writers and/ or actors are involved in. If everyone focussed on one successful show until it loses all of its originality (eg. Friends) Then we might not have had Green Wing in the first place!

Article in today's Independent, made me think about the idea of a third series - the article was not about Green Wing, but about artistic integrity and knowing when to end a series.

(exerpts from Thomas Sutcliffe's article.

'In fact, if you are a fan, you will experience the end of a series as a kind of death itself' 'One of the things I loved most about 'Blackpool' was the refreshing sense that this was all there was going to be....It was just itself, heading with beautifully paced determination towards a genuine finishing line. By contrast, every episode of 'Lost' feels a little as if it is vamping until ready - and 'ready' means 'so stale that we've decided to cancel the show'.' ....'Now it is a mark of artistic integrity for a series to slam the door shut on its own future prospects. Think of the final episode of The Office, when Ricky Gervais offered us the consummation we had all been waiting for, and, in effect, ensured that he couldn't go back on his decision that there wouldn't be a third series .....Open endedness might have been more lucrative, but the proper ending was far richer'.

Sorry this got a bit long, but what do you think?
