Dunno. I'm sure GW is big enough and ugly enough to stand up to shouty people who don't like it though.

Maybe they were trying to save the poster from the wrath of hundreds of JRT fans. All told, that's quite wrathy.

And I'm going to complain. There's all sorts of bad stuff on these forums but criticize channel 4 product, it seems and your zapped -and I didnt use bad language or slander anybody.

Is C4 really worried about somebody on a message board pointing out that the emperor's naked? What are they scared of?

My take on the Green Wing phenomenon is this, which also applies to Nighty Night and many other shows:

1) Production of Series 1 a bit of a mess and beset with problems - widely anticiapted to be a flop.

2) True to form, only a small number genuinely like it, but the show gets critical attention due to dark/filmy/edgy/cool comedy being popular at the time.

3) Everyone involved in the show completely taken aback. All of them start pretending they knew it was good all along. Crisis plan discarded. Party poppers are bought.

4) Critics crank up the hype - huge armies of people start saying they like it, even though deep down they know it's not that good.

5) Two years later, second series gets made. By now, media attitudes have moved on and dark/filmy/edgy/cool comedy is no longer fashionable. IT Crowd-style tradcom is the future. Lots of bad reviews. Show in danger of getting buried.

6) Everyone panics and searches desperately for the crisis plan.

Hence, all dissent must be crushed.

they are quite good points. i agree that the tastes for comedy have changed slightly now. i don't think any anti-gW threads should be deleted i just think they're alightly pointless cos none of the fans are listening (let's face it, most of the people on here are fans). i'd e-mail ch4 about it though. i think they'd be interested. hehe i love the phrase about pointing out the emperor's naked.

Well don't tell us, send an email to C4. We didn't delete it.

i don't mind you giving your opinions on here i'm not asking you to leave. constructive criticism and all that. but just don't spoil it for us. there's nothing we can do to change the series and it's not our fault we like it. i do like that list of points though. very valid.

Mostly for what Jazz said - I mean, you must really hate it to bother coming to a forum & telling the fans. I can't think of anything I'd put in that much effort for.

yeah they should'nt have deleted it. but if i hated something i would just carry on hating it quietly. but as for it being mainly fans coming on here: have you never loved anything so much that you wanna shout about it and tell the world? so hate it as much as you like, just please don't spoil our fun.

Even though you like the show, doesn't it concern you that criticism gets deleted?

yeah it concerns me! i'm in the middle of trying to find out how to email c4 about it. we all should. i mean, we like the show, but we don't live in a fairyworld where we pretend that everyone thinks the same. unlike some broadcasting companies.
